Graham Family Client Testimonial

Jennifer and Zach Graham live in Cumming, GA with two kids in a house they moved into in 2013. Prior to their project with Outback Deck, the family had a small lower level deck that was original to their home. Jennifer and Zach had been thinking about doing this project for some time, and at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 they became significantly more serious about making moves on their dream porch.

The Grahams found out about Outback Deck through a ‘Best Pics’ magazine and called for a free estimate. Our team was 1 of about 6 contractors the Grahams had interviewed to find the right fit for their approximate 500 square foot porch project.

According to Jennifer, “Our biggest concern here was having this addition be structurally sound because of the slope and nature of our backyard.” Outback Deck has a design process in place in which a solution specialist, project manager, and structural engineer all meet with the homeowners prior to beginning the 3D renderings (drawings) in order to consider all of the unnatural and natural forces that come in to play when beginning a project as complicated as this one. When asked how the Grahams decided to move forward in the design process with Outback, Jennifer responded, “I believe William (Outback Solution Specialist) was very clear in telling us that design is what we needed to do…and we met with some other contractors that were going to charge a significant amount more for design only, and that wasn’t involving an engineer, just a designer.”

The Grahams signed with Outback on December 2, 2021 and their project passed final inspection on June 9th. The project took nearly 6 months in total from start to finish between permitting, labor, and inspections. Here’s what Jennifer had to say about the installation “Things moved along very smoothly. Clay (project manager) communicated very well…one of the biggest hold-ups was the gas line installation through a third party contractor.” She did note that the majority of the hiccups during the project did seem to occur when third party contractors were involved. Jennifer spoke very highly of the onsite project manager (Clay Farlow) and crew, and when asked what set Outback apart from other contractors ,Jennifer said, “Professionalism, communication, and having clear verbal and written plans for the project”.

The final product of the 2022 Graham Porch project was an 18’x14’ open Gabled roof Porch approximately 23’ high with Timbertech composite decking, a shiplap knee wall, a tongue and grooved pine ceiling, and a stone fireplace with a TV enclosure. Next to the porch was an open L-shaped deck that ran along a majority of the side of their house, completed with Timbertech composite decking and a beautiful cable guardrail.

Based on the Grahams experience, they would highly recommend Outback Deck to others, and give the company a 5 star review!
