”Hope is not a strategy”
I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and moved to Atlanta after college. My husband and I have lived in Marietta for the last 20 years. I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Business Management and Insurance. After graduation I was accepted to the management training program for a large plumbing distributor. It was there that I was introduced to the world of residential construction and have spent the rest of my career working in all areas of that industry.
In 2014 after several small renovations in our home my husband and I decided to renovate our kitchen. We knew this project would quickly expand well beyond our kitchen (our home was built in the 80’s and had not been updated so you can just imagine the paneling and wallpaper we had). With my knowledge of products and experience with contractors in the past I knew picking the right contractor would be key to the success of the project. My designer told me I should contact Bryan Miller. By our second meeting I knew he would be our contractor. After 6 months of working together as client and contractor he invited me to be part of his team. Not many homeowners and contractors can say after a 6 month renovation project you both want to keep working together.
I started with Outback Deck in the spring of 2015 as the receptionist. As my knowledge of the company expanded, I moved into the production department. In my current role as Production Coordinator I am able to put my organizational and process development skills to work. I am the first voice our customers hear after signing their contract. As we move through planning and permitting, they receive updates from me until we begin construction. Behind the scenes I work with our project managers and crews to lay out our construction calendar.
“Helping people has always been important to me. My experience in plumbing showrooms through my current role with Outback Deck I have been able to help people through one of the most stressful experiences – home renovation! I enjoy sharing updates with customers and telling them what they can expect to help reduce that stress as much as possible
What I enjoy most about Outback Deck is the people I work with every day. Everyone here wants to take care of our customers. We truly work as a team to find solutions to problems and want to educate our customers about their home and project so they are able to make informed choices about their project.
Outback Deck has given me something special the opportunity to have a challenging career I really enjoy and a flexible schedule to be a mom.
When I am not at work, I am using my scheduling skills to keep up with my busy theater kid and baseball player. When I am not cheering for them you will find me cheering for my Florida Gators, hanging out with friends and sometimes I am lucky enough to get some quiet time to read.
